Human Relationships in Fahrenheit

A few examples of weak relationships are: Montage and Mildred, and Montage and Beauty’s relationships. Montage and Mildred don’t have much of a relationship or connection. In turn from this Mildred turned on Montage and called the firefighters. Beauty and Montage seem to have an okay connection in the beginning but in the middle to end when Beauty talks to Montage about the history of firefighters it seems to go down the drain and near the end Montage ends up torching Beauty so that shows a really great relationship. “The important thing for you to remember, Montage, is we’re the Happiness Boys… Oh and I and the others. We stand against the small tide of those who want to make everyone unhappy with conflicting theory and thought. We have our fingers in the dike. Hold steady. Don’t let the torrent of melancholy and drear philosophy drown our world. ” (Bradbury). One can tell that this is when Montage and Beauty still sort of have that connection of being firefighters, even if Montage is a little iffy at this point in time. This is where I believe that their relationship turned for good: “We must all be alike. Not everyone born free and equal, as the Constitution says, but everyone made equal.

Each man the image of every other; then all are happy, for there are no mountains to make them cower, to judge themselves against So! A book is a loaded gun in the house next door. Burn it. Take the shot from the weapon. ” (Bradbury). A few examples of great relationships that actually have a connection are: Montage and Claries, and Montage and Faber. Montage and Claries have a better relationship and connection than Montage and Mildred in a very short amount of time and they seem to be very good friends before Claries is killed.

Montage and Claries have a good relationship because Montage looks at her as if she is the child that he never had. This is why he is so curious as to what happened to her. ‘You’re not like the others. Live seen a few; I know. When talk, you look at me. When said something about the moon, you looked at the moon, last night. The others would never do that. ” (Bradbury). You can see that Montage and Claries had a connection right off the bat. Faber and Montage have a better relationship than Montage and Beauty do since Faber isn’t really trying to change Montage like Beauty is.

In the movie Wall-E can see many connections to the relationships that the characters in Fahrenheit 451 have. In Wall-E the humans on board the Axiom did communicate with each other, but it was while they were using something similar to Skips (sarsaparilla. Logs. Com). In Fahrenheit 451 while they might not use Skips to communicate with each other when they watch television in their parlor rooms the television is a wall unit and they could have all four walls in their parlor be televisions.

It seems that in Wall-E the use if technology is a little worse than that in Fahrenheit with the fact that no one has to walk since they have their floating chair that do virtually everything for them (sarsaparilla. Bloodspot. Com). The characters of Fahrenheit 451 have the seashell radio: “The seashell radio is a device that is inserted into the ear, such like headphones, that allows Its listener to hear radio broadcasts. Mildred, Montage’s wife, is mainly the character that is depicted using the seashell radio.

She is described as being antisocial and reclusive when listening, much like the people in WALL-E were when they were “plugged in” to their various chair devices. When Montage and Mildred were lying in bed, Montage looks over at Mildred and notices that “her Seashell was tamped to her ear again, and she was listening to far people in far places, her eyes wide and staring at the fathoms of blackness above her in the ceiling” (Bradbury, 953, p. 42). Montage goes on to think that he should need to buy himself his own Seashell in order to talk to her at night. (sarsaparilla. Bloodspot. Com). In Fahrenheit 451 it has yet to get to the point where people no longer walk to where they want to go or talk to people in person. Can see in the future of Fahrenheit 451 that the people become so much more obsessed with the technology they have that it gets to the point where they have technology to do every sale little thing for them and then everyone would be morbidly obese and die and that would take care of one of the problems that too much genealogy will cause.

All of these technologies get in the way of human relationships having actual connections within the relationship. In conclusion, it is good to have strong connections in relationships. If the relationship does not have a good or strong connection then one of the people in the relationship is bound to turn on the other person. When a relationship does have a good or strong connection then the people in that relationship are happy and are much less likely to turn on one another. If technology is involved in a relationship the technology will help trigger deterioration within relationships.
