So, it wasn’t wiped out by typical explosions that caused fire storms; it just obliterated everything. Perhaps, in this futuristic society, it was a bomb that had that power. In any case, the city is destroyed. I’m not sure where the war ends; it is implied that after their city is bombed, that particular war has ended. However, I don’t know if the country was wiped out, we don’t know if further strikes are landed, and we don’t know the extent and depth of the war.

Throughout the book, Montage implied that war was a part of their everyday life for as long as he could remember. There were always jet planes going in the skies, a constant reminder of the war. Then, Milliard’s friends speak of their husbands and friends always being gone to fight, and die. So, the war was a huge part of Montage’s society; possibly it ended with the bombing of their city, possibly not.

Considering the dramatic implications, Montage and their ere going to restart society and rebuild and we can assume that perhaps the war was over, and Montage and others like him will be the new leaders in an established society. To conclude, as I don’t know if the entire world was affected, know that the city was bombed by jet bombers and in Montage’s Society they were used to be in the war, or in other words the war was part of their lives since Montage could remember. The destruction of a city and the Bombs gave an explosive ending for the story.
